Entrepreneurship is a calling to a life of repetitive trial. We constantly test your value proposition with both new and past customers. While we fight every day for a confirmation that you are satisfying a customer by solving their problem, tomorrow is not promised. We must reset over and often as the environment, our customers, and our solutions evolve. Even after you have enjoyed a measure of success, you find that you still have not escaped the tribulation of change. For most of us, the 2020 pandemic has rocked our worlds. Many things have changed, and some will never return to the way they were.
So, where does that leave you?
You are in a crisis! A crisis is a decision point, a strategic opportunity to choose your next steps. It’s time to pivot! Keeping one foot anchored in kingdom power and purpose, while picking the other up, swinging around, and pointing it in a new direction. You realize that somebody has moved your cheese! Yet, you are not the type to sit still and sulk. You are looking and listening for the wisdom of what to do next.
For the believer, it not enough to do what God said. It is vital to hear and do what God is saying. If Abraham had only done what God said he would have cut the throat of his only begotten son. God did say very clearly to him,
Abraham was faithfully doing exactly what God said, no matter how hard it must have been for him, but God called him twice and gave him the next instruction.
Thank God that Abraham continued listening! He could have just kept his head down, earbuds on mute, and continued on the path that he was last instructed to go on. Since we have a living God, who is yet alive, and yet speaking, we must KEEP LISTENING, and keep doing what He is SAYING. What He said, was good for yesterday, but not enough for today.
Do you have a word for today, for 2021? Not that you need to make any New Year’s resolutions, but you do need to acknowledge that there is a seasonal transition. What is past is past, and what is coming is already underway. Have you taken inventory of what you have learned, what you have gained and what’s left in the tank?
It’s a good chance that the purposes that you were on last year are still the right purposes for you to continue pursuing. In a new season, you need to refuel, recharge, reboot, and recommit to the assignment. Pause, reflect, and ask yourself, “is this my purpose? Am a called to do this?” If you hear, “no”, or even “maybe,” STOP! If you hear that still small voice of confirmation, speak it out loud, declare your purpose, let your ears hear it, let it resound in heaven, and write it down!
Now, you are ready to RESTART on PURPOSE! It is crystal clear and confirmed what you are to do. You still may not know just how to do it. "What" is mission, "How" is strategy. The how, or strategy is where you need guidance, counsel, and new understanding.
For by wise counsel you will wage your war, and in a multitude of counselors, there is safety.
Prov 24:6
You are not an island and you are not alone. There are believers in business just like you who need people like you. And you need them, too! There is safety in revisiting the identification of your customer, the confirmation of the problem you are solving for them, and clearing the channels to meet them with your message and sound strategy generated and teased out by your close, trusted counselors.
